The SNEBRN members and former SBRN members offer sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Gordon Shields, who passed away on Friday, January 17th, 2014. 

Gordon was the founder/President of the Net Zero Energy Home Coalition – a partner of SBRN & SNEBRN.

Team Ontario won first place in Engineering at the 2013 Solar Decathlon Competition in Irvine California.

In total, they received four trophy awards:

- First place in Engineering
- Second place in Affordability
- Tied for first place in Energy Balance
- Tied for first place in Hot Water

They were also fourth in Market Appeal

Their final ranking in all ten juried and measured categories was sixth overall. Nineteen teams from around the world competed in the 10 day competition. Team Alberta placed 9th overall with a very respectable score. Team Austria took first, Team Las Vegas second, and Team Czech in third.
